Comeback Bid Falls Short in Women’s Lacrosse Setback to Lebanon Valley

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team tried to stage a late comeback but wound up falling short as it dropped an 8-6 MAC Commonwealth contest to visiting Lebanon Valley College Wednesday night at Jean Lenox West Field.

FOR THE RECORD: The Dutchmen improved to 3-7 overall and 3-0 in MAC Commonwealth play with their third consecutive win. The Knights record fell to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Freshman Jessica Kaye scored the first goal of her collegiate career 3:31 in to the game to give Arcadia a 1-0 lead, and the score remained that way until Kirsten Bannan got Lebanon Valley on the board nine minutes later. Bannan's goal started a six-goal run for the Dutchmen that put them in front for good. Freshman Shannon Ryan snapped that string with 53 seconds left in the first half, making it 6-2 at the break.

The Knights trailed 8-4 following a goal from Emily Federowicz with 4:43 left in the game, but goals from Ryan and Kaye followed for the Knights to cut their deficit to 8-6 with 1:41 on the clock. Bannan was able to secure the final draw of the game and Lebanon Valley was able to run out the clock to secure the win.

IN GOAL: Hanna Oliveras had 10 saves to pick up the win in goal for Lebanon Valley. Junior Liz Stierle had 11 saves and a game-high four ground balls in taking the loss for Arcadia.

ARCADIA LEADERS: Kaye finished with a game-high three goals for the Knights, while Ryan finished with two goals, two ground balls and two draw controls. Junior Allegra Benites added one goal with one assist, while classmate Nicole Hutson had three ground balls and caused three turnovers.

LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: Emma Jones also had a game-high three goals to go with three draw controls for the Dutchmen, while Bannan tallied two goals with one assist.
