GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Arcadia University baseball team staked itself to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back on its way to an 18-6 victory at Gwynedd Mercy University Tuesday to close out the regular season.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights improved to 29-11 for the season while setting a new program record for wins in a season. The previous mark of 28 wins was set by the 2004 squad. The Griffins fell to 21-13-1 with the loss.
DRAUDE'S HOME RUN RECORDS: Senior
Jordan Draude launched his program record-setting ninth home run of the season in the top of the ninth, moving him past Bart Hotchkin (8) for first place on the single-season record list. Draude is now tied with Hotchkin atop the career home run list with 15 each. Draude finished the day 2 or 5 with three runs scored and two runs driven in.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Nick Cardace got the offense going in the top of the first, driving in sophomore

Justin Chasmar and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. An error allowed freshman

Sean Carew with a single to center. Arcadia opened a 9-0 lead after the top of the second before pulling away with a six-run fifth that made it a 17-2 contest.
ON THE HILL: Nine Arcadia pitchers combined to allow five earned runs on nine hits while totaling nine strikeouts. Junior
Mike Boulanger picked up the decision after tossing a scoreless first inning, improving his record to 2-3. Sachael Sciaretta fell to 1-1 after giving up eight runs (six earned) over the first 1.1 innings of the game.
ARCADIA AT BAT: Ponente was a perfect 4 for 4 on the day with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Cardace finished the day 3 for 3 with a double, three runs scored and three runs driven in. Pierfy was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Chasmar was 1 for 3 with a double, two walks and scored three times. Carew went 1 for 3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored.
GWYNEDD MERCY AT BAT: Nick Mulvey was 4 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Josh Lopez was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.
