GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team hosted Eastern in non-conference action Monday night, falling to the Eagles 1-0 in overtime.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights fell to 4-3 on the year, while Eastern improved to 2-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED: After a first half that saw a combined six shots on goal, Arcadia came out in the second half and put three straight on cage. The Knights were awarded a penalty corner six minutes into the second frame, which resulted in a pair of shots on the doorstep in quick succession from freshman
Lauren Dougherty. Half a minute later, senior
Gabby Sedares tested the Eastern keeper, before firing a shot high a minute later off another penalty corner. The Scarlet and Grey defense sent the game to overtime as it stopped a penalty corner attempt from the Eagles that played out after the horn.
Junior Kayla Brenna came up with a huge defensive save for the Knights just over five minutes into the extra session, before the visitors found the back of the net in the 81
st minute after finding the loose ball in front of the cage.
IN GOAL: Freshman
Maya Stern (4-3) made 10 saves for Arcadia, while Brennan and senior
Liz Stierle each registered a defensive save. Nicole Berger (2-5) made four saves for Eastern.
