GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia women's basketball team picked up its first MAC Commonwealth win of the season with a strong defensive effort in a 63-19 win over Alvernia Wednesday night. Sophomore Courtney Hoffman led the way on the offensive end with a career-high 16 points.

FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Scarlet and Grey evened its record at 6-6.
  • The Golden Wolves dropped to 3-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Arcadia's defense held Alvernia to just 3-of-10 shooting in the opening frame, and held a 15-7 lead after 10 minutes of play. Hoffman matched the opposition's point total by herself, while three teammates found the bottom of the net.
  • The second stanza saw an even better defensive effort from the Knights, as the team allowed just one field goal and three total points in the frame. Hoffman went off for eight more points in the second on 2-of-4 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Arcadia took a 33-10 lead to the break.
  • The Knights extended their lead out of the break by winning the third quarter 10-2, while holding the Golden Wolves to just 1-of-13 from the floor. By the end of the frame, Arcadia's lead sat at 43-12.
