Brandon Thompson (18 points) combined for 40 points to push the Knights over the Hood Blazers, 72-66, Saturday evening. Joining Davis and Thompson in double figures were juniors
Phil Pierfy (14 points) and
Josh Scott (11 points).
FOR THE RECORD:
- Arcadia advanced to 7-7 on the season and 2-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
- The Blazers fell to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Shortly after the start of the first half, Arcadia took a 9-0 run to pull ahead by seven points with 17:38 left in the half. On the run, the Knights made three-straight long-range shots – two from Pierfy and one from Thompson.
- After the home Blazers overtook the lead and were up by eight, the Knights sparked 14-2 run over the course of 4:19 to regain the lead for the Scarlet and Grey, 26-22. Over the span, Arcadia forced three turnovers, and saw five points each from Davis and Scott. Despite a 5-2 Hood run during the final 3:48 of the half, the Knights held a 28-27 lead at the break.
- The first 5:27 of the second stanza saw a three-point frenzy by both teams as the Knights pounced on a 20-11 run to bolster their lead, 48-38. During the span, Arcadia shot 4-of-5 from long distance, all four by Thompson. On the contrary, the Blazers went 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
- The next 5:58 was neck-and-neck as the teams traded 10 points each over the span to keep a Knights 10-point lead at 58-48 with 8:35 left in the game.
- Hood took a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to one point, however Arcadia wouldn't give up the lead. The Scarlet and Grey finished the final 5:59 of the game with a 14-9 run to seal the victory, 72-66.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Scott completed the double-double adding 10 rebounds to his 11 points, nearing a triple-double with seven assists.
- As a team, the Knights shot 43.3% from the floor on 26-of-60 shooting, including 40% from downtown on 10-of-25.
- Arcadia led for 31:12 of the contest, holding Hood's lead to just 8:22.
- The Knights capitalized on the Blazers' 14 turnovers, turning into 22 Arcadia points.
GAME NOTES:
- Scott's double-double is the third of his career and first on the season.
- Davis' 22 points ties his career-high (at Scranton 12/12/17).
