READING, Pa. – The Arcadia women's soccer team defeated Albright, 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday evening at Shirk Stadium.
Veronica Garcia tallied two goals and an assist and
Erin Vander Plaat scored the game winning goal in the win for the Knights (9-2-2, 4-0 MACC).
Arcadia took the early lead in the 13th minute, when Garcia got behind Albright (8-3-1, 2-2 MACC) keeper Alexis Tunney, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Albright answered just three minutes later. Erica Bross scored on a header tying the score at 1-1. The match remained even at 1-1 heading to halftime.
Garcia gave the Knights the lead back in the 49th minute, when she fired home a loose ball in the box, giving Arcadia the 2-1 lead.
The contest went into overtime after Albright tied the score in the 82nd minute, when regulation was not enough to determine a winner.
In the first overtime, Vander Plaat scored on a deflection in the box in the 98th minute, giving the Knights the 3-2 victory.
