GLENSIDE, Pa. -- The Arcadia women's soccer team played the second-ranked Messiah Falcons to a scoreless draw on Wednesday evening at Jean Lenox West Field. The draw assures the Knights the No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championships and home field advantage in the semifinal round.

The Knights, who are now 1-0-1 in their last two games against Messiah, moved to 11-3-3 on the season and 6-0-1 in league play. The Falcons are 14-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 conference.

Each team generated a number of solid scoring chances throughout the contest, but
Brianna Williams for Arcadia and Messiah's Sarah Yunez were each up to the task, combining for 11 saves, and each getting a save from their respective defenses, in the shutout.

Arcadia had a golden chance in the final minute of regulation to find the winning goal.
Stephanie Maggio sent a corner into the box that
Veronica Garcia headed towards goal. The ball was blocked in front and came out to
Kayla Murphy who sent a shot wide with 10 seconds to play. Â

The Falcons outshot the Knights 4-2 over the two overtime periods, forcing Williams to make a pair of tough saves, but the sophomore was up to the task.

IN GOAL: Williams made eight saves for the Knights, while the Falcons got three saves from Yunez in 110:00 each.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The 24 shots taken by Messiah were the most by any Arcadia opponent, but only nine were on goal - a total that ranks as the second-highest allowed … The shutout was the seventh of the year for the Knights, and the sixth that Williams has been solely responsible for …  The Arcadia defense has been stout for much of the season, allowing double-digit shots in just two of the last eight games, while the offense has taken at least 10 shots in each contest … The Knights now boast a goal differential of +18 in their last 18 games.
