NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Arcadia women's soccer team saw its season end with a 3-1 loss to Scranton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night at Captains Field in Newport News, Va.

The Knights wrap up 2018 with a 12-6-3 record, while the Royals move to 15-1-3 and will face Christopher Newport in the second round on Sunday. The 2018 season marked the third season in a row that the Knights had qualified for the NCAA Tournament, and the second time in three years that the Scarlet & Grey got in via an at-large bid.

A two-goal halftime deficit was trimmed in half in the 62nd minute when
Stephanie Maggio's cross from the left side of the box found
Karlie Flowers, who sent a shot past Colleen Berry to make it 2-1.

The Royals got an insurance goal with under five minutes to play when Taylor Stevens corralled a rebound and scored after her initial shot was saved, but not controlled, by
Brianna Williams.

IN GOAL:
Williams played al 90:00 for the Knights and came up with five saves on the day. The three goals allowed marked just the second time in the last 13 games that she had conceded multiple goals. Berry played all 90:00 and made five saves as well.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Knights outshot the Royals 16-11 and also boasted an 8-5 edge in corner kicks … Of the Knights' six losses on the season, AU actually held a shots advantage in three of them, including three of the last four … Only five times all year did AU give up more than one goal in a game, going  2-2-1 in said contests … Flowers led the Knights with three shots in the game, tying a season high and matching her total from the previous seven games combined.
