Four Different Players Register a Point as Women’s Lacrosse Challenges Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Arcadia women's lacrosse team fell to Messiah, 16-5, in its conference opener Thursday. Four different Knights registered a point, led by sophomore Shannon Ryan with five.

FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Scarlet and Grey are now 5-3 on the year and 0-1 in the conference.
  • The Falcons own a 6-3 mark, including 1-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Ryan scored back-to-back goals to get the Knights on the board, the first unassisted and the second from senior Nicole Hutson. Sophomore Julia Imbert followed with her 16th of the year with just shy on nine and a half minutes left in the first half. Senior Allegra Benites pulled the Knights to within a 6-4 margin with a man-up goal from Ryan with just under three minutes to go until halftime.
  • Ryan started the scoring in the second half on an unassisted effort 1:14 into the frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Ryan racked up her five points on three goals and two assists.
  • Ryan and senior Marie Brockman tied for the team-lead in draw controls with four.
IN GOAL:
  • Sophomore Molly Naylor (2-1) made five saves for Arcadia.
  • Jessie Lissner (2-0) picked up the win in relief for Messiah making three saves. Amber Orner allowed four goals in the first half.
NOTES:
  • Ryan's four draw controls moves her into third place all-time with 123 in her career.
UP NEXT:
  • The Knights are back in action next Wednesday, April 7, when they host Widener at 7 p.m.
