GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore
Shannon Ryan contributed on 10 of Arcadia women's lacrosse's 11 goals Saturday afternoon, as the Knights beat Stevenson, 11-10. The win marks the program's first ever win over the Mustangs.
FOR THE RECORD:
- Arcadia advances to 9-6 overall, with a MAC Commonwealth record of 4-2.
- Stevenson dips to 5-9 on the season and 3-3 in the conference.
COACH SAYS:
- "Today I feel we proved ourselves as a team," said head women's lacrosse coach Sam Hosford. "We fought hard and played a whole 60 minutes which ultimately landed us a huge win."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights ended the first half with a 7-5 lead, including two in the final 53 seconds. Arcadia saw four goals from Ryan, with senior Nicole Hutson scoring two and sophomore Julia Imbert netting one.
- Stevenson held the edge in the second half, outscoring the Knights 5-4, however the Scarlet and Grey finished on top, 11-10. Ryan owned the scoring efforts again in the second half, adding three to her total, while classmate Victoria Mollitor scored one.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Ryan finished the day with 10 points, adding three assists to her seven goals scored. The East Greenbush, N.Y. native also won eight draw controls, while corralling three ground balls and causing two turnovers.
- Hutson (2), Imbert (1), and Mollitor (1) all puts scores on the board.
- Sophomore Jess Kaye registered two assists on the afternoon.
- Sophomore Molly Naylor had an impressive outing, making nine saves en route to the win.
GAME NOTES:
- Ryan's seven goals tied a career high, aiding her move into eighth place all-time in points with 158.
- Hutson picked up three ground balls, pushing her into fifth place in program history (154).
- Senior Courtney Capehart is now tied for fifth place all-time in caused turnovers with 59, after registering one today.
