Extra Innings Not Enough as No. 1 Rowan Takes Down No. 3 Baseball

YORK, Pa. – Senior Nick Cardace hit a solo homerun in the sixth inning, forcing extras, however the No. 3 Arcadia baseball team fell short to No. 1 Rowan, 4-1, after 12 innings of play.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia ends the season 31-16.
  • Rowan advanced to 35-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Profs got on the board first, plating one run in the top of the second.
  • Arcadia responded in the bottom of the sixth, with a solo shot from Cardace over the giant wall in left to tie the game at one.
  • Rowan added three runs in the top of the 12th to take the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Cardace led the team going 2-for-3 on the day with the solo shot.
  • Junior Phil Pierfy also picked up two hits in four at bats.
ON THE MOUND:
  • Sophomore Jeremy Sabathne had a quality start, pitching 6.1 innings, striking out one.
  • Senior Connor Laigaie (2-2) came in out of the pen, going 4.2 innings with one strikeout.
  • Senior Mike Boulanger ended the day on the hill, pitching the final inning. 
GAME NOTES:
  • Junior Bryan Gillen ends the campaign setting the single-year mark for hits (80), runs scored (65), and total bases (114).
  • Junior Sean Carew set the single-season record for RBIs with 52.
