GLENSIDE, Pa. -- The Arcadia women's soccer team took a 1-0 decision from Ursinus on Thursday evening at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavillion in a game delayed for over an hour due to lighting and storms in the area.
Â
The Knights remained unbeaten at 2-0-1 with the win, while the Bears saw their record evened at 1-1-1 with the loss.
Â
Veronica Garcia scored the lone goal of the game when she got on the end of a
Kayla Murphy corner kick in the 26th minute and managed to slip a ball past Ursinus' Sabrina Doherty. Despite outshooting the Bears 6-2 in the first half, the Knights were not able to add to their lead and took the 1-0 advantage into the break.
Â
Just after halftime began, the game entered a lightning delay as the storms that could be seen in the distance finally crept close enough to halt play. Play resumed following a nearly hour-long delay followed by a 15-minute warmup period.
Â
In the second half, the Knights once again dominated the ball and outshot Ursinus 7-1, but found few quality scoring chances.
Â
IN GOAL:
Brianna Williams picked up the win with a shutout. She was not asked to make a save as her back line kept the Bears at bay the entire contest. Sabrina Doherty made four saves for the opposition.
Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The three shots allowed by Arcadia's defense were far and away the fewest allowed thus far in 2018, while the 13 shots were the most that AU has taken in a game.
Â
UP NEXT: The Knights are back in action on Sunday when they play host to Muhlenberg at 2 p.m.
