GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team remained unbeaten in the MAC Commonwealth with a 3-0 victory over Lycoming College, Saturday afternoon.
Erin Vander Plaat,
Morgan Giordano and
Riley Nyhus provided the scoring for the Knights with assists from
Gabby Rhoads and
Mackenzie Hoffman. Junior goalkeeper
Brianna Williams earned her second consecutive shutout with two saves.
The women's soccer team celebrated Down Syndrome Awareness Month, presenting the Montgomery County Down Syndrome Interest Group with a check for $1,000 to provide support and resources for individuals with down syndrome and their families in our community.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights struck early with a goal in the third minute. Hoffman fired a shot from the right side, which was saved by the Warriors goalkeeper. Vander Plaat then collected the far side rebound and tapped the ball home for the opening score.
- Arcadia added another goal in the 29
th minute when Rhodes connected with Giordano on a crossing pass from 30-yards out. Giordano collided hard with the goalkeeper, but was able to direct the cross into the net.
- Nyhus added an insurance goal in the 59
th minute to take a 3-0 lead. Hoffman played the ball to her teammate on a cross from the right side and Nyhus chipped it in for the goal.
- A junior midfielder, Nyhus had a dominant day in the midfield to lead the Knights on both sides of the ball.

TEAM COMPARISON
- The Knights controlled the pace of play, outshooting the Warriors 19-4.
- Arcadia took five corner kicks and held the Warriors without an attempt.
