ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team battled to a draw, 2-2, in their MAC Commonwealth opener at Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon.
Kenneth Marshman recorded his first career goal, while
Duncan O'Connor stayed hot with his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Bryan Reyes and
Daniel Tittelmayer were credited with the respective assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-After both teams were held scoreless in the opening 45 minutes, the offenses responded with four goals in the second half.Â
-In the 49th minute, Anderson Velozwong tallied the opening goal to give the Dutchmen a second half advantage. Peter Foerster set up the play with a crossing pass, which found the head of Velozwong.
-The Knights responded in the 65th minute with an O'Connor equalizer. Reyes set up the scoring opportunity with a well-placed corner kick, which found the head of O'Connor for his fourth goal of the season. It was the reigning MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week's seventh point in the last three games.Â
-Marshman netted his first career goal in the 73rd minute to provide the Knights with a go-ahead score. Tittelmayer played a through ball to Marshman, who buried a strike to the left corner.
-With 18 seconds remaining in regulation, Lucas Strange sent the game to overtime with a heart-breaking goal. Noah Campomizzi crossed the ball from the right side, which was headed by Strange into the right corner.
