Women's Volleyball Sweeps Widener in Senior Night Victory

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team defeated Widener University in straight sets to close out the regular season with a Senior Night victory on Friday evening.

The Knights honored Kaylee Bumpus, Shannon Ryan, Mackenzie Hale and Emily Eng, who all started and played the entire game for Arcadia. Eng, who played the full match as an outside hitter, tallied seven kills with a team-best 15 digs and collected her first block of the season. Ryan recorded a game-high 15 kills with eight digs, one block and an ace. Bumpus had six kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks, while Hale tallied eight digs.

Maddie Sehrt, who totaled 15 kills with an impressive .619 hitting percentage, was the only other Knight with double digit kills, while Julia Paliwodzinski had a game-high 37 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights coasted to victory with a 25-13 win in the opening set. Widener hung around early, but Arcadia quickly gained separation with an early 5-1 run and never looked back. 

- Widener was more competitive in the second set, but dug themselves into an early hole. The Knights put the Pride on their heels with a 9-3 run to open the second stanza. Arcadia later added on with a 7-1 rally to establish a commanding 17-8 lead. Widener would climb back into the game with a late 7-2 run, but it was too late for the Pride.

- The final set was the closest of the evening with the Knights edging out a narrow 25-21 lead. The set was competitive throughout, however, the Knights were able to pull away late to claim victory.
