Women's Basketball's Late Comeback Falls Short on the Road

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team outscored Rutgers-Camden by eight points in the fourth quarter, but fell just short of a late comeback on the road with a 59-55 loss to the undefeated Scarlet Raptors.

Taylor Dunn led the Knights in scoring with 19 points to go along with six assists, four steals and three rebounds. Julia Makowski was the only other Knight in double figures with 11 points and six rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dunn scored the Knights first five points and Sydney Cyr added a three-pointer to give the Knights an early lead, 8-5. Following a 6-0 run from Rutgers-Camden, the Scarlet Raptors took their first lead of the afternoon with 4:02 remaining. Arcadia regained the lead, but surrendered an 8-2 run to fall behind 20-16 after the opening stanza

- The Scarlet Raptors held their lead for the remainder of the first half. Arcadia struggled from the field in the second quarter with just two basket. The Knights scored seven of their 11 points from the free throw line. 

- Rutgers-Camden outscored the Knights 16-11 in the third quarter. Shane Holmes opened the half with a three-pointer to give the Scarlet Raptors their first double-digit lead, 37-27. The squad would take their largest lead of the afternoon, 50-37, on a Tamara Johnson three-pointer with 17-seconds remaining in the third quarter.

- The Knights stormed back with their strongest quarter of the game, outscoring their opponent 17-9. Dunn and Daveski opened the quarter with consecutive baskets to cut their deficit to single digits. Moments later, Dunn scored six unanswered points with a three-pointer, jumper and one foul shot to cut the Scarlet Raptors lead to four points with 5:32 remaining in regulation.

- With 1:02 on the clock, Holly Daveski trimmed Arcadia's deficit to one point with a successful three-point play, 56-55. However, the Scarlet Raptors were able to secure victory with three free throws in the final minute of play.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Knights lost the turnover battle 18-14, but outscored the Scarlet Raptors 16-10 on fastbreak points. 
- Rutgers-Camden shot 36.4 percent from the field, while Arcadia was 34.7 percent on the afternoon.
