GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Arcadia University field hockey team saw its 2019 season come to an end Wednesday night in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals, falling 5-1 to top-seeded Messiah.
Michaela Ferlow netted her team-leading eighth goal in the effort, while goalie
Ashton Evans made a game-high eight saves in the cage for the Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons took an early advantage with single tallies in the first two quarters while stifling the Knights' offensive attack to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
-Ferlow opened the second-half scoring with the Knights' first goal with three minutes remaining in the third quarter to cut the Falcon lead in half, but the hosts answered back in the final minute of the quarter to regain a two-goal advantage.
-Messiah put the game away with a pair of scores in the first four minutes of the final quarter, advancing to the MAC Commonwealth Championship game with a 5-1 victory.
