Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Davis Reaches 1,000-Point Plateau; Men's Basketball Falls at Top-Ranked Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Da'Kquan Davis became the 12th player in Arcadia University men's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points - and the fastest to do so in program history, needing just 62 games - with a team-high 15 points Sunday afternoon at Swarthmore, but the Knights were unable to take down the top-ranked Garnet in an 89-72 loss.

Kishan Patel and Jalen Watkins combined for 25 of the Knights' 28 points off the bench in the effort, but the Garnet's 51.7 percent (31-60) shooting day from the field was ultimately too much to contain in the non-conference tilt.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights stayed within a possession of the lead in the first five minutes of the first half, but a 9-0 Garnet run provided some separation before the hosts claimed a ten-point lead at the ten-minute mark. Just over a minute later, Davis converted on a fast-break layup in the lane for his 10th and 11th points of the game to reach 1,000 for his career.

-Davis' lay-in was part of a 6-0 Knight run - capped off by a Watkins field goal in the paint - that got Arcadia within four at the 6:50 mark, but the Garnet answered back with an 11-3 run to extend their lead to 12 before heading into halftime with a six-point lead, 44-38.

-Arcadia was unable to shrink its deficit below eight during the second half despite ten points from Watkins and eight from Patel in the final 20 minutes, as Watkins shot 4-of-6 from the field in the half. Swarthmore continued to keep the offensive pressure on with a 48.1 field goal percentage (13-27) and 45.5 percent (5-11) mark from beyond the arc to run its lead to as much as 23 in the half before capping off the 17-point victory.
