Women's Basketball Falls to Eastern to Snap Four-Game Win Streak

RADNOR, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team had their four-game win streak snapped with a loss to Eastern University, 52-50, on the final day of the Cabrini University Classic.
 
Julia Makowski led the Knights with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Taylor Dunn added 13 points with seven rebounds.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - After the Eagles opened the game with a 5-0 run, the Knights answered with six-straight points to take their first lead of the afternoon. Eastern, who held Arcadia scoreless for the final 4:42 of the quarter, ended the stanza on a 4-0 run to take a 9-6 lead.
 
- Jamie Manzo, who collected six points off the bench in the second quarter, ended the Knights scoring drought at the 7:58 mark to trim their deficit to three points, 11-8. Makowski then hit consecutive free throws, which was followed by a Manzo jumper to regain the lead for Arcadia. The Eagles ended the half on a 9-4 run to pull ahead 25-18 at halftime.
 
- The Knights outscored the Eagles 14-6 in the third quarter to take a 32-31 lead. Midway through the quarter, Dunn scored consecutive baskets to pull the Knights within one point. Makowski then gave Arcadia the lead on a layup with 1:56 remaining in the third stanza.
 
- Arcadia carried momentum into the final stanza with a 5-0 rally in the opening minute. Makowski cashed in on the Knights opening possession with a jumper, while Dunn drilled a three-pointer to pull ahead by six points, 37-31. With 6:26 remaining in the fourth, the Knights expanded their lead to double-digits on a Makowski three-pointer from the wing.
 
- Following a timeout, Eastern put together a 10-1 run to pull within one point of the Knights, 45-44, with 2:59 remaining in regulation. Following a timeout at the 2:30 mark, the Eagles regained the lead with a 5-0 run, but Dunn answered with a quick three-pointer to capture the lead once more, 50-49. With the game tied at 50-50, the Eagles retook the lead for a final time with a fastbreak layup following a turnover on the Knights inbound pass.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Knights shot 34.0 percent from the field, while the Eagles shot 36.2 percent for the game.
- Arcadia struggled to find rhythm in the opening quarter with a 10.0 percent mark from the floor.
- Despite their struggles from the field, the Knights were able to score from the foul line. The team shot 77.8 percent (14-for-18) from the charity stripe, while the Eagles converted on 54.5 percent (6-for-11) of its opportunities.
- The Knights lost the turnover battle 18-10 and were outscored 21-15 on points off turnovers.
