Women's Basketball Drops Conference Opener Versus Albright

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team fell to undefeated Albright College, 71-58, on Wednesday night. Julia Makowski led the Knights with 21 points, while Holly Daveski and Taylor Dunn both reached double-figures with 11 and 10, respectively. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights opened the game on an 8-2 run to take their largest lead of the contest. Arcadia worked the ball inside with layups from Sidney Barrer, Sydney Cyr and Taylor Dunn for its first three buckets. However, the Knights quickly fell behind after losing the turnover battle 7-0 for the last six minutes of the quarter. Albright ended the opening stanza with a 19-14 lead.

- Albright carried momentum into the second quarter, opening the stanza on a 20-9 run to take their largest lead of the night, 39-23. The Knights clawed back into the contest with a 9-2 run in the final two minutes of the half, which pushed their deficit to single-digits. Dunn aided the Knights late surge with seven points, one assist and a steal to end the final minutes of the half.

- The Lions built their lead back to 16 points after hitting a three-pointer with 4:46 remaining in the third quarter. Arcadia then responded with an 7-0 run to pull within single-digits once more, 54-45. 

- The Knights were unable to capture momentum in the final quarter. Despite a couple small runs, the Lions built their lead to a game-high 16 points on three different occasions.

- The Knights lost the turnover battle 18-15 and were outscored 12-6 on fastbreak points.
- Albright shot a stellar 51.7 percent from the field, while the Knights were at 36.5 percent.
- Arcadia struggled from long range (3-for-13), while Albright shot 52.2 percent (9-for-17) from three-point range.
- The Knights only took four trips to the foul line, while the Lions earned 13 free throws.
