READING, Pa. -- The Arcadia men's basketball team tied the school record for wins in a season and clinched the No. 1 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championships with a 69-67 win at Alvernia on Wednesday.

The Knights' win was their 19th of the season (19-3) and tied the 1994-95 team that posted a final record of 19-7. With a 13-0 mark in league play, the win assures the Knights will enter the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed and have home-court advantage throughout. It also marked the 100th win in the career of Head Coach
Justin Scott, the first Arcadia coach to reach the mark.

Alvernia is now 11-12 on the year and 6-8 in league play.

The Knights' 19th win of the season was not without any drama as the Scarlet & Grey had to erase a five-point deficit in the second half and hold off the Golden Wolves down the stretch.

A Malik Green three pointer with 8:33 to play stake the home team to a 58-53 lead. A pair of free throws from
Josh Scott and a charity toss by
Da'Kquan Davis cut the Knights' deficit to 58-56.
Phil Pierfy put AU on top 60-59 with a layup at the 4:44 mark.

Tied 63-63 with 2:29 to play, Arcadia used a 6-1 run over the next 2:24 to take a five-point lead with five seconds to play before Green capped the scoring with a triple at the buzzer. Davis hit 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch, and
Jordan Sanders added a pair with five seconds left that made it a two-possession game.

The Knights got to the free-throw line 33 times, hitting on 27 attempts (.818) and outrebounded the Golden Wolves 46-32. Alvernia was just 13 of 24 from the line (.542). Arcadia's bench also outscored Alvernia's 18-1

Davis led the Knights with 18 points, including a 14 for 17 showing at the free-throw line. Pierfy added a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, and
Evan Slone scored 11 points and blocked two shots.

Green led all scorers with 28 points, and Justin Thomas added 22 points. Keon Taylor had nine points, eight rebounds and five assists.

The Knights are back in action on Saturday at Lebanon Valley at 2 p.m.
