OWINGS MILLS, Md. --
Mary Pat Murray allowed just one run over 7.0 innings in a 5-1 win at Stevenson as the Arcadia softball team picked up a split with the Mustangs on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The Knights (7-5, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) dropped game one 3-1, before Murray's gem helped in the nightcap helped the Knights salvage a split in their conference opener. The Mustangs now stand at 6-7 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Jackie Bilotti accounted for the lone AU run with a solo home run, and the Mustangs were able to scratch across three runs against
Kylee Schwind in picking up the win. Schwind allowed just four hits in 6.0 innings, striking out two, but the Mustangs hit a pair of solo home runs.
Â
An RBI triple for Stevenson in the third broke a scoreless tie, and the Mustangs made it 2-0 in fourth with their first solo home run. Bilotti halved the Knights' deficit with her solo shot in the sixth, a two-out shot to center.
Hunter Schantz followed with a single, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate in the form of Alexi Burge, but a groundout ended the threat.
Â
After the Mustangs got a run back in the bottom of the sixth with another solo home run, the Knights were set down in order in the top of the seventh to close out the game.
Alex DeStefano and
Alexa Vardiman added base hits for the Knights.
Bekah Good and
Morgan Marchesani each stole a base.

Murray needed little run support in the nightcap in improving to 3-2 on the year. The junior allowed seven hits without a walk and struck out two. In a team-high 34.2 innings this year, she boasts and ERA of just 0.40 and has 24 strikeouts against one walk.
Â
The Knights' offense erupted for 11 hits and four different players had multi-hit days. Schantz put AU up 1-0 in the first inning with a sacrifice fly that scored DeStefano, and a
Kayla Resh single in the fourth brought home
Alexis Burge for a 2-0 lead.
Â
The Mustangs inched within 1-2 in the sixth on an RBI double, but the Knights shut the door on any rally with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Â
Kristen Cancelliere reached on an error to lead off the inning and a Bilotti single put runners on first and second. A fielder's choice erased Bilotti on the base paths, but left AU with runners on the corners. After pinch runner
Ashton Evans stole second, Burge laced an RBI single to left, and Vardiman followed with another run-scoring base hit to make it 4-1.
Julia Gessner accounted for the final run with an RBI single to right.
Â
Bilotti, Burge, Gessner and
Tori Zangrilli all had two base hits for the Knights.
Â
Arcadia will open its home slate on Tuesday when its hosts Haverford in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
