Women's Volleyball Rallies for Five-Set Victory Over Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team had to go all five sets Wednesday night at Lebanon Valley in its MAC Commonwealth opener, but the Knights prevailed on the road for a gritty, 3-2 victory to open conference play. The two sides alternated sets after the Knights took the opener, 25-16, including a tightly-contested 15-13 fifth-set victory to seal the win.

Shannon Ryan and Lauren Enfield paced the Arcadia attack with 16 kills each, while Olivia Hess and Jazlyn Surell pitched in 19 and 17 digs, respectively, in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights controlled the opening set from the onset to take an early advantage, sealing the first set with a 7-2 run late take the 25-16 triumph.

-After Lebanon Valley bounced back with a second set victory to even the match, 25-18, the Knights regained control of the match in the third set. Despite trailing 7-6 in the early going, the Knights ripped off a 9-0 run to take back the lead and eventually the set by a final of 25-18.

-With a chance to seal the match in the fourth set by taking a 10-9 lead following an Enfield kill, the Dutchmen responded with a 6-0 run and eventually went on to take the set to force a decisive fifth set.

-The two sides traded points to begin the fifth set and arrived at a 4-4 tie before drawing even at seven as neither side could pull away. The Knights took off on a 4-1 run to cushion their lead, but the Dutchmen battled back to even the score at 12. However, a pair of Ryan kills in the final three points sealed the set and the road win for the Knights, 15-13.
