Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pryor Nets Game-Winner in Double-Overtime to Down Susquehanna

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team (4-2) and visiting Susquehanna almost needed all 110 minutes to decide Saturday afternoon's non-conference bout at Jean Lenox West Field, but the Knights came through on what was seemingly their last scoring opportunity of the game with two minutes remaining in the second overtime as Brandon Pryor headed home a Matt Brendlmaier offering into the box to come away with the 1-0 victory.

Jake Varrato was brilliant in net all afternoon, finishing the day with six saves while facing 16 total shots en route to his fourth clean sheet of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The opening 15 minutes of the match was primarily played in the middle third with the exception of a pair of Susquehanna corner kicks that the Knights successfully fended off.

-In the 21st minute, Duncan O'Connor's free kick from just outside the 18 was met with a diving save and Zac Runkle buried the deflection in the back of the net, but the goal was negated by an offsides call.

-The Knights had a pair of chances on net in the final ten minutes of the half as Alex Kuchnicki's header at the far post following a cross from Matt Berndlmaier was met with a save as was Harun Abdullahi's left-footed go on goal from just inside the left side of the 18.

-In a scoreless game entering the second half, both sides struggled to piece together anything offensively as the few chances on net came up empty. In the 81st minute, Susquehanna looked poised to break through with the game's first goal with a one-on-one opportunity, but Varrato made a huge save and then collected the header chance on net folllowing the deflection to turn away the River Hawks.

-The River Hawks and Knights produced only one shot on goal each in the first overtime period to hold the scoreless tie. Abdullahi had a chance at the golden goal in the first three minutes of the first OT from the left edge of the box, but it sailed high.

-With just over two minutes remaining in the match, Berndlmaier held possession in the Susquehanna third and lofted a high, left-footed cross to the far post to an unmarked Pryor who headed home the golden goal just out of the reach of the River Hawk keeper to lift the Knights to a thrilling, double-overtime victory.
