Women's Soccer Earns Fourth Shutout Behind Talented Defense

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's soccer team earned their fourth shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Salisbury University, Sunday afternoon. Jules Oswald continued to play a key role in the club's defensive success, while Brianna Williams made three saves on the road to her third consecutive shutout.

Erin Vander Plaat and Megan Mannato provided the scoring with assists from Morgan Giordano and Eva Ruppersberger. Vander Plaat tallied the opening score in the 21st minute, while Mannato added on the insurance goal in the 41st minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arcadia's defense continued to limit quality scoring chances. Although both teams were even with nine shots, the Seagulls only attempted three shots on goal. Salisbury's best chance was in the 61st minute when Williams made a leaping stop to take away a potential goal. The Knights have only allowed one goal this season and have gone 355 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.

- Vander Plaat netted the game's opening goal for her second of the season. Giordano picked up a loose ball in the box and delivered a perfect touch pass to Vander Plaat, who beat the keeper to the lower right side of the net.

- Ruppersberger set up a beautiful scoring opportunity after the team earned a free kick from 40-yards out. The junior connected with Mannato on the run, who snuck the ball past the keeper to the far post.
