Hearthstone Goes up Against Tough Competition at Akron Invitational; Continues TESPA Slate

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University Hearthstone program faced an action-packed slate over the last week, competing on the national stage in the Akron Hearthstone Invitational while also taking on tough opponents in the Tespa and ECAC fall schedules.

AKRON HEARTHSTONE INVITATIONAL
The Akron Invitational featured 16 of the best programs across the country. The Knights' team of Aidan Stuhltrager, Henry Ryder, and Joel Anderson found themselves in a group with Northeastern, RIT, and Kent State.

ARCADIA (A) 1, KENT STATE 3

Game 1: The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 series lead by snagging a win in the Demon Hunter Mirror Match.

Game 2: The Knights looked strong going into game two, but slipped in the end losing on their enrage warrior versus the Demon Hunter of Kent State.

Game 3: The Knights fell again on their Enrage warrior versus the bomb warrior of Kent State. A very clunky hand stopped the Knights from being able to apply pressure in the early game.

Game 4: The Knights fell in a close match against the Small spell mage and fell to the loser's bracket with a 3-1 loss.

ARCADIA (A) 0, RIT 3

Game 1: The Knights fell in game one against the Demon Hunter of RIT. They were not able to secure the win with their small spell mage deck.

Game 2: The Knights fell again in game two in the mage mirror match. RIT had an incredible start to the game and the Knights did everything they could to fight back but in the end, but fell short.

Game 3: The Knights' Enrage warrior was not able to sneak a win through the libram paladin of RIT and they fell, 3-0, in the series and were eliminated from the event.

ECAC
ARCADIA (B) 2, ALBANY 3

Pregame: The Knights B team of Mason Cole, Xavier Dube, and Corey Klevan started ECAC league play vs Albany.

Game 1: The Knights dropped game one in a close matchup on their face hunter.

Game 2: The Knights fought hard on their face hunter in game two to secure the win.

Game 3: Albany fought hard against the Knights' stealth rogue deck and were able to secure game three.

Game 4: The Knights got revenge on their stealth rogue in game four, securing the victory and pushing the series to a decisive game five.

Game 5: The Knights were not able to secure the victory in game five and dropped the series, 3-2.

TESPA
ARCADIA (A) 2, UNKNOWN 3

Pregame: The Knights A team of Aidan Stuhltrager, Henry Ryder, and Joel Anderson came into the series 1-3 In the TESPA Open Division.

Game 1: The Knights won a great game one match on their mage deck to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the series.

Game 2: The Knights' priest deck had a hard time against a Libram Paladin deck and the series became evened up at one-all.

Game 3: The Knights fell again in game three on priest, this time the mage deck that was able to get the win.

Game 4: The Knights fought back in game four against a big warrior deck to even the series at 2-2 and bring it to a winner-take-all game five.

Game 5: The Knights were not able to secure the win in game five, falling 3-2, and dropping to 1-4 in the Tespa Open Division.

ARCADIA (B) 3, TOLEDO 1

Pregame: The Knights B team of Mason Cole, Corey Klevan, and Xavier Dube continued their run as the strongest Knights team in the open division. They looked to improve to a 3-2 record and stay alive in the playoff race.

Game 1: The Knights looked dominant early and got a win quickly on their face hunter deck.

Game 2: The Knights kept the dominance up in game two and put the pressure on Toledo, once again. Toledo was unable to stop the early aggression and the Knights jumped out to a 2-0 Series lead.

Game 3: Toledo fought back in game three with a win on their bomb warrior over the quest druid of the Knights.

Game 4: The Knights were able to fight back and secure the series win, 3-1, to move to 3-2 on the season. Three more wins will advance the Knights in the Eastern Regional playoffs.

ARCADIA (A) 3, HIGH POINT 1

Pregame: Out of playoff contention, the Knights A team of Aidan Stulhtrager, Joel Anderson, and Henry Ryder chase to end the first Tespa split with a .500 record.

Game 1: The Knights jumped out to an early lead in game one with their soul demon hunter taking the win over the highlander hunter of High Point.

Game 2: The Knights looked dominant in game two defeating the face hunter again, this time on their enrage warrior list. They ended the game with 52 hit points and jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Game 3: The secret rogue mirror proved to be too chaotic for the Knights as they dropped game three.

Game 4: The Knights shaped up in game four and got the win with their secret rogue over the Murloc paladin of High Point.

ARCADIA (B) 0, RIT BLACK 3

Pregame: The Knights B team of Corey Klevan, Mason Cole, and Xavier Dube looked to remain in playoff contention. In order to do so, they need to win at least two out of their last three rounds to have a chance.

Game 1: Things looked gloomy on the matchup charts for the Knights as they fell on their stealth rogue to the resurrect priest of RIT.

Game 2: The Knights' luck did not change in game two as the Stealth Rogue lost to a very powerful Libram Paladin Deck.

Game 3: The Knights fell again in game three - this time to soul demon hunter - to drop the series and move to 3-3 on the season.
