ARLINGTON, Va. - The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team got a season-high four goals from freshman
Amanda Diachynsky and three more from
Julia Imbert, but came up short to Marymount on the road Wednesday, 16-10.
Shannon Ryan also scored twice and added three assists to share the team-lead in points with Imbert at five, while
Caroline Toner caused four turnovers in the effort for the Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Saints jumped out to an early three-goal lead in the first ten-plus minutes of Wednesday afternoon's contest while holding the Knights scoreless over that stretch. Arcadia fought right back with a pair of scores within 40 seconds of each other, as Diachynsky and Imbert went back-to-back to cut the deficit to one.
-Despite another tally each from the same Knights' duo, the Saints scored five-straight times over an eight-and-a-half minute stretch to take a 10-4 lead. Diachynsky completed her hat trick to stop the Marymount scoring run with just over a minute left in the half as the Knights went into halftime trailing by five.
-Diachynsky and Kaye netted two of the first three second-half goals to get the Knights within four, 12-8, but four-straight Marymount tallies that followed shortly after extended the hosts lead to eight with 8:30 remaining.
Shannon Ryan netted two goals and
Giovanna Raspanti added another in the final seven minutes, but they were not enough for the Knights in the 16-10 loss.
