Arcadia Knights Awards Week: Male and Female Scholar Athletes
Awarded annually to one male and one female student-athlete that used a season of eligibility during the academic year in which the award is given. This award is open to sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate students who maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 or higher and have played in at least 50% of the team's intercollegiate competitions. Selection criteria includes - but is not limited to - honors such as MAC Academic Honor Roll, Dean's List, academic-based athletic honors, and campus academic involvement.
BRIANNA CROWLEY - Women's Soccer
Sophomore | Morris Plains, N.J. | Parsippany Hills
Crowley, a psychology major, maintained a 3.816 GPA and was chosen to the Philadelphia Inquirer Women's Soccer Academic All-Area Team, the Academic All-MAC women's soccer team, and a Fall MAC Academic Honor Roll honoree. On the field, Crowley was a United Soccer Coaches Second-team All-American and United Soccer Coaches First-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection. Additionally, Crowley was the MAC Commonwealth and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, a First-team All-MAC Commonwealth selection, and helped lead the Knights to their fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance by anchoring a backline that posted a 0.523 goals against average, ranking 19th nationally.
(Video) "Congratulations, Brianna. The Female Scholar Athlete of the Year is an amazing award, but I'm not surprised and neither are your family, friends on the team and at home. Anybody that knows you knows how hard you work. You are one of the hardest-working student-athletes that I've ever met. You certainly lead the team with that effort and it's so much fun watching you perform at the very highest level. I also know how well you do academically with the biology program and how difficult that is and you spend so much time to make sure your grades are at the very top. We appreciate all that you do. My most fun memory of you is watching you battle Messiah's top striker in the country and you two going at it was like a clash of the titans. You are a fantastic player and a fantastic person and a great scholar and you deserve this, congrats." - Rick Browell
(Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Head Coach, Women's Soccer)
CHRIS REISTLE - Men's Cross Country, Men's Indoor Track & Field
Junior | Sewell, N.J. | Washington Township
Reistle, a graphic design major, maintained a 3.909 GPA and was named to the Fall 2019 MAC Academic Honor Roll. Reistle was also a Spring 2019 and Fall 2019 Dean's Distinguished List honoree, and won the MAC 2020-21 Championships design contest, creating the logo template that will be used for all championships next year. Reistle recorded the team's top mark at all eight meets and garnered Third-team All-MAC recognition, becoming the second runner in program history to achieve the honor. Reistle set the program record in the 8K with a time of 26:37.2 at the MAC Championships (26:37.2) and recorded the program's top time on a 5K course with a 16:42.8 finish at the Blazer Twilight Invitational.
(Video) "Chris (CJ) has been the perfect example of a student-athlete during his first three years at Arcadia. He owns multiple school records and was the second-ever Arcadia cross country runner to earn all-conference honors this past fall. CJ is more than an impressive athlete, though. He has balanced an impressive GPA of 3.90. A graphic design major, CJ produced the design that will serve as the official MAC Championships logo this coming year. CJ is a hard-worker, an excellent captain and serves as an orientation leader and campus ambassador at Arcadia. Chances are, CJ was one of the first people to welcome you here. I'm honored to be his coach and can't wait to see his next achievements." - Joe Dyas (Head Coach, Cross Country and Track & Field)
