MADISON, N.J. - The Arcadia University field hockey program saw its two-game MAC Freedom win streak come to an end Wednesday night at FDU-Florham, as the Knights fell to the host Devils, 3-0. The Knights out-shot the Devils 15-8 on the night - led by a game-high seven from
Morganne Dee - but were unable to break through offensively in the effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights looked poised to take an early advantage in the opening minutes of the first quarter as a penalty corner resulted in an
Autumn Gahman chance on goal, but her shot was blocked as the two defensive units went on to post scoreless quarters.
-The Devils were awarded three-straight penalty corners just over five minutes into the second quarter with the third of which netting the game's first goal. Dee did all she could to knot the contest at one-all in final minutes of the first half, but three of her shots were met with saves as the Knights went into the break trailing by one.
-FDU-Florham doubled its lead just over a minute into the third quarter coming off another penalty corner. Arcadia had an opportunity to cut into the deficit by being awarded a penalty stroke, but
Regan Sammons' attempt was met with a save. The Knights registered four shots in the final 15 minutes in an attempt to get back in the game late, but the Devils defense held strong to post a 3-0 victory.
