GLENSIDE, Pa. - The fourth-seeded Arcadia University women's volleyball program opened the MAC Freedom Championship Tournament Monday night against fifth-seeded King's and posted a three-set victory to advance to Wednesday's semifinal round at DeSales.
Danielle Doyle posted a match-high 11 kills followed by
Michelle Frank's ten, while
Katie Paoli logged a match-high three service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights fell behind early in the first with attack errors being mostly to blame, but later used a 6-0 run to even the set at 11 as two of the six points came from
Katie Paoli service aces. With King's leading 23-19 late, Arcadia rallied to win seven of the next eight points to storm back and take the first set, 26-24.
-With the second set tied aat four-all early, Arcadia ripped off a 10-3 run to take complete control and lead the rest of the way.
Danielle Doyle posted four kills in the 25-22 victory, getting the Knights one step closer to Wednesday's semifinal round.
-The Knights once again used a big scoring run early to keep the momentum alive in the third set, as a 15-2 run resulted in a ten-point lead. Frank posted three kills over that stretch while Estefania Martinez-Sola provided a pair of service aces, and Doyle again posted four kills in the match-clinching, 25-13 victory.
