PREVIEW: Top-Seeded Men's Soccer Opens MAC Freedom Tournament Wednesday Against Stevens

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The top-seeded Arcadia University men's soccer team hosts fourth-seeded Stevens in the semifinals of the MAC Freedom Championship Tournament on Wednesday night at Jean Lenox West Field. The Knights earned the conference's top seed after putting together five-straight victories to end the regular season with a 6-2 mark in the MAC Freedom.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
- The Knights enter the championship tournament with a conference-best, five-straight victories. Arcadia opened its win streak with a 1-0 victory at Stevens on a game-winning goal in the 85th minute from Thomas Hoy. The men then wrapped up the regular season with wins over Wilkes, FDU-Florham, King's and Delaware Valley to clinch the conference's top seed. Arcadia's most recent defeat came against Misericordia, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 9. 

- On the offensive side, the Knights are led by seniors Duncan O'Connor, Daniel Tittelmayer and Matt Berndlmaier, who all pace the squad with double-digit points. O'Connor and Tittelmayer lead the trio with a team-high 15 points, while Berndlmaier has collected 10 points on the season. Tittelmayer also leads the MAC Freedom with seven assists, while O'Connor ranks fourth with four goals scored.

- Jake Varrato made 17 starts in goal to lead the Knights' defense to the lowest goals allowed total during conference play. The senior goalkeeper leads the MAC Freedom in goals against average (0.493) and saves percentage (.862) in conference play. As a team the Knights have held conference opponents to 0.50 goals per game, while scoring 1.25 goals per game on offense. 

ABOUT THE DUCKS
- The Ducks enter the postseason ranked fourth in the region. Stevens finished with an 11-6-1 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the MAC Freedom. The Ducks advanced to the semifinals after defeating #5 Wilkes, 3-0, to capture their fourth-straight victory.

- Cristiano Hocken led the Ducks offense with six goals and six assists for a team-high 18 points. Adam Silva, Emerico Vespucci and Sean Masur ranked second on the team with three goals. Masur helped carry the Ducks to victory with two goals in the MAC Freedom play-in game.

- Aedan Boriotti started 14 games in goal for the Ducks with a 9-5-1 overall record. As a team, Stevens ranks second in the conference in goals per game (1.86) and third in goals allowed (0.88).
