RADNOR, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's basketball program came up short in its non-conference matchup with Cabrini Saturday afternoon, 80-65, despite a
Jalen Watkins' double-double with 18 points and career-high 23 rebounds.
Justin Money and
Samuel Majekodunmi also scored in double figures for the Knights with 19 and ten points, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights fell victim to an early six-point deficit in the opening two minutes of the game, but a 9-2 Arcadia run sparked by six points from Watkins and capped off by a
DJ Gardner three resulted in a one-point lead at the 16:29 mark. However, an 11-1 Cavalier run vaulted the hosts to a nine-point lead at 19-10 around the midway point of the opening half. Cabrini led by as many as 15 in the half before ultimately taking a 37-27 lead into the break.
-Arcadia put together a strong offensive push to open the second half, cutting the deficit all the way down to one with just under ten minutes left in regulation.
Justin Money opened the half with a dunk before Sameul Majekodunmi posted six quick points on lay-ins to get make it two-possession game. A Money three got the Knights within three and moments later
Jared Chambliss knocked down a jumper to get Arcadia within a point at 49-48.
-Despite Arcadia's fast start to the half, Cabrini was able to return to its first half form to stretch the lead back out to double figures with under five minutes remaining and led the rest of the way, resulting in the 80-65 victory.
