CHESTER, Pa.- Justin Money's late-game heroics lifted the Arcadia University's men's basketball team to a three-point victory over Widener Thursday night, 70-67. Money paced the offense with a career-high 21 points - including the game-winning three with 22 seconds left in regulation - to go along with five boards and four assists.
Johaan Vinson posted 14 points in 16 minutes off the bench while shooting 60 percent (6-10) from the floor while Jalen Watkins made his presence known with a dominant night in the paint to record his second double-double of the season with 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights opened the game with a deep three from Da'Kquan Davis as both teams battled to gain an early advantage. However, Widener responded with a 16-3 run to take a 13-point lead with just under eight minutes remaining in the opening half. Arcadia would not be silenced, however, ripping off a 17-4 run to close out the half - capped off by a Money three at the buzzer - to even the score at 30-all at the break.
-The second half was a back-and-forth battle as neither team was willing to give an inch with both sides trading points. A pair of three-pointers from DJ Gardner gave the Knights an eight-point lead - their largest of the night - with 9:55 remaining in regulation.
-Widener answered back with a three of their own as Arcadia tried to fend off the late-game push by the Pride. As both teams traded buckets, a Widener three knotted the two sides at 67 with 1:36 remaining. Money's hot hand would prevail, as he buried the game-winning shot from beyond the arc before the Knights denied the Pride on its final possession to hang on for the three-point win on the road, 70-67.
