GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team picked up a pair of wins in ECAC play, knocking off Albany and New England College to move to 3-4 in the bracket.
ARCADIA 2, ALBANY 0
Game 1: The Knights started off the match strong with Matthew Chattin taking 8 out of 9 total stocks. Thankfully
Joel Anderson came in and cleaned up the last stock to lead them to a game 1 victory.
Game 2:
Malachy Hurd started the knights strong off by taking 5 stocks with
Joel Anderson to take 3 more after him. Thankfully Matthew Chattin came in to take the final stocks clenching the 2-0 victory against UAlbany.
ARCADIA 0. DALLAS BAPTIST 2
Game 1: The Knights came out hot against Dallas Baptist keeping it close in stocks throughout the first sets. It was a good fight from the Knights, but in the final game Dallas ended up taking the win and winning the first game.
Game 2: The previous loss seemed to take the wind out of the Knights' sails as the second games looked much tougher. Good adaptation from Dallas let them get a strong upper hand early on in the set, and they never let the lead go.
ARCADIA 0, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 2
Game 1: The Knights started off strong against Mount St. Mary's winning the initial stock lead for the set. They kept the lead for a while, until Mount St. Mary's Zelda player took 5 stocks off of the Knights. It was a good final fight, but in the end the Knights dropped the set going down 0-1.
Game 2: The second set started off much stronger with a nice lead by
Malachy Hurd. The stock lead however did not last as, much like game 1, the remaining players for Mount St. Marys unfortunately cleaned up the game and delivered us the loss for the match.
ARCADIA 2, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 0
Game 1: The Knights had a back and forth match against New England College with it coming down to the last set of stocks for both teams.
Malachy Hurd took a whopping 5 stocks away and tagged in Matthew Chattin in the end to put them to bed. Arcadia won the first game in a tight race rising to 1-0 in the set.
Game 2: The second set started off weaker and it was looking grim for the Knights as they fell down 3 - 5 in the stock count with just
Joel Anderson left to play. In a clutch performance, Joel took the rest of New England College's stocks and won the second match for Arcadia in a last stock situation. The best of three set ended in a 2-0 Arcadia victory.
The Arcadia Knights rise to 3-4 in the ECAC bracket, and look to ride the momentum into the next weeks.
