GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University baseball program ran its win streak to five with a doubleheader sweep of Stevens Saturday at Skip Wilson Field, defeating the Ducks with a pair of 10-0 decisions.
Ryan Smolen finished the afternoon 6-for-8 at the plate - including a 5-for-5 showing in game two - while
Trevor Mattson continued his torrid start to the season with a 4-for-6 day between the two games with three runs driven in.
The Knights' pitching staff carried last weekend's momentum in the series with Stevens, as
Jeremy Sabathne tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout in the opener to pick up his first win of the season before
Luke Fournier and Collin Bowdish combined for a four-hit shutout in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Arcadia and Stevens were locked into a pitcher's duel from the onset of game one, as Sabathne retired 12 of the first 15 batters he faced while striking out four. The Arcadia lineup came to life in the home half of the fourth when
Justin Massielo drew a leadoff walk and moved up to third on a
Trey Obarowski double. Mattson wasted no time plating both, delivering a a two-run double to right before a Pallante single moved him to third, allowing
Zachary Sekelick to drive in the third run of the frame on a sac fly to right.
-After Sabathne delivered a shut down inning on the mound, the Knights picked up right where they left off to plate five runs in the fifth - all with two outs.
Alex Madera reached on an error and stole second before coming around on a Massielo single, followed by a Pallante bases loaded walk and a Sekelick three-run double to left extended the Knight lead to eight.
-Arcadia put the game away with a pair of wins in the home half of the sixth as Mattson and Pallante drew bases loaded walks, and Sabathne set the Ducks down in order in the seventh to seal the 10-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights were first on the board in the home half of the second with three runs as Sekelick and
Ryan Smolen each contributed run-scoring singles while the third came across on a wild pitch. Smolen was only getting started in what turned out to be a 5-for-5 showing at the plate, adding a two-out RBI double in the fourth.
-The Arcadia offense left no doubt of a doubleheader sweep with a six-run eighth inning powered by run-scoring singles off the bats of Smolen and Pallante along with a sac fly to center from
Jules Mastrocola. Massielo capped the frame with a three-run double to left center as the Knights took a ten-run lead into the last of the ninth.

Luke Fournier and Collin Bowdish combined for the four-hit shutout on the mound, as Fournier went six strong innings while striking out five to pick up his second win before Bowdish closed the door on the sweep with three flawless innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit.
