GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team wrapped up its home schedule with a straight-sets victory over Wilkes University on Monday night.
Tyler Austad paced the Knights offense with a team-best seven kills, while
Vaughn McConnell added 17 assists.
Amadeus Cannon put together a strong defensive showing with a season-high five blocks for the Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arcadia set the tone early with a 7-0 advantage to open the match. Later in the set, the Knights built on their lead with back-to-back
Dylan Zimmerman kills and a
Ryan Miller ace, which sparked a 5-0 run for Arcadia, 21-10. Zimmerman went on to close out the set with a service ace to take a commanding opening set victory, 25-14.
- The Knights and Colonels went back-and-forth during a competitive second set. The Knights showcased a number of underclassmen – including
Cameron Glines and
Evan Rothmann who led the set with three kills. Austad gave the Knights an early advantage, 14-11, with consecutive aces, but Wilkes was able to battle back and remain competitive. Arcadia closed out the set with three-straight points, which culminated with a Rothmann kill, 28-26.
- Arcadia finished off Wilkes with a 25-22 victory in the closing set. Austad led the way with four kills, while
Carson Magnuson added two kills and an ace. Magnuson closed out the set with a kill to seal the victory for Arcadia.
