AMBLER, Pa. – The Arcadia University baseball team dropped both games of its double-header versus DeSales University, 4-3 and 17-13, on Saturday afternoon.
Joseph Kumar led the Knights offense with three RBI in the finale, while
Ryan Smolen launched his first home run of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DeSales opened the scoring with one run in the first inning, but the Knights responded with two runs in the third inning, 2-1. Arcadia plated its first run with a
Zachary Sekelick sacrifice bunt, while
Alex Madera doubled to left field to drive home the team's second run.
- The Knights added one more in the fourth inning to expand their lead to two runs.
Trevor Mattson opened the inning with a double to left field and scored on a
Justin Massielo sacrifice fly, 3-1.
- DeSales took the lead in the fifth inning with a three-run homer with two outs, 4-3.

Zach Steiger kept the Knights in the game with 1.2 shutdown innings, while striking out three batters and allowing just one base runner. However, the Knights offense was unable to tie things up.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DeSales scored two runs in the second innings, but Smolen answered back with a solo homer in the bottom of the inning, 2-1.
- The Bulldogs rallied for 10-unanswered runs to take a commanding 12-1 advantage. The Knights began to chip away at their deficit with four runs in the sixth inning.
Connor Cheeseman drove home two runs with a double and scored on a wild pitch, while
Gregory Hamrick II drove home one more with a single through the right side, 12-5.
- DeSales pulled away once again with five runs in the seventh inning, 17-5. However, the Knights kept fighting and scored eight-unanswered in the final three innings. Kumar plated three runs with two singles, while Emilio Palante and
Jack Welling also added RBIs for the Knights. Arcadia had the tying run in the on-deck circle in the ninth inning, but its comeback fell just short, 17-13.
