Baseball Completes Four-Game Sweep over Kings to End Regular Season

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University baseball team swept its four-game series versus King's College with two road wins on Sunday afternoon. The Knights wrapped up the regular season with a 19-9 record and will enter the postseason on a five-game win streak. The squad also set a new program mark with 102 stolen bases on the season.

Trevor Mattson led the Knights offense with 6 RBI and a home run on the day. Zachary Sekelick added 5 RBI with three doubles and a home run, while Alex Madera had five hits, four RBI and three stolen bases.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Knights plated three runs in the top of the first inning. Justin Massielo brought home the game's first run with a sacrifice fly, while Mattson doubled to score another run. Mattson then took home plate on a stolen base from Joseph Kumar, 3-0.

- Arcadia added on three more runs in the next two innings. Madera flew out to left field to plate one run in the second. Mattson then blasted a two-run homer in the third inning to double the Knights lead, 6-0.

- Sekelick doubled down the left field line to plate one run in the fourth. The Knights then busted the game open with five runs in the fifth inning. Kumar and Sekelick both provided RBI singles in the inning, 12-1.

- Madera added an insurance run in the seventh inning with a single up the middle to score Jack Welling, 13-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Knights tallied four runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Madera opened the inning with a single and scored on a Sekelick double to left center. Mattson plated one more with a double, while Kumar drove home Mattson with a ground out to the pitcher, 4-0.

- Arcadia added one more run in the second inning with a two-out homer from Sekelick. The Knights added one more in the fifth when Massielo doubled to lead off the inning and came around to score on a Mattson single through the left side, 6-0.

- The Knights continued to pull away with two runs in the sixth inning. Madera brought home the first run with a bunt single, while Sekelick provided another run with a sacrifice fly. The Monarchs responded with one run in the sixth, 8-1.

- Ryan Smolen stole home to expand the Knights lead in the seventh inning. Trey Obarowski later doubled to left field to plate Emillio Pallante, 10-1. 

- Kumar plated two runs with a single up the middle in the eighth inning and Jules Mastrocola scored on a wild pitch in the ninth inning to score the game's final run, 13-4.
