GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia women's lacrosse team secured their first win of the season with a convincing win over King's College Wednesday night in MAC Freedom action, 13-8. Hannah McAllister netted a goal and assisted on three others for a game-high four points, while five Knights tied for the team-high with two goals apiece.
Mariya Occorso made a career-high 11 saves in her first start in net for the Knights while facing 25 shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Monarchs got out to a quick start offensively, netting the first two goals of the contest to take an early advantage. The Knights would not stay down for long as Giovanna Raspanti and Skylar Acker each tallied a goal to draw Arcadia even at two ten minutes into the first half, sparking a five-goal run in the process.
-Arcadia wasn't done there as Alex Arena took advantage of two free position shots to score her fifth and sixth goals of the season. The Knights continued to press the King's defense as the half progressed with Sarah Morris finding the back of the net to put Arcadia up three. The Monarchs broke the scoring run late in the half, but McAllister answered right back with an unassisted tally to send Arcadia to the break with a 7-3 lead.
-The Knights continued to keep the offensive pressure on to begin the second half as Acker netted her second goal of the contest just over two minutes in. The Monarchs rallied to cut the deficit to one with 21:16 left in the game, 7-6, but a crafty pass from McAllister to Ferlow in transition resulted in a goal to pad the lead.
-Raspanti and Ferlow followed by scoring their second goals of the game to push the lead to four before Emily Covert and Morris joined in on the action with scores of their own to extend the lead to five in the final minutes. Mackenzie Hoffman netted her first career goal on a free position opportunity to cap off the Knights' first win of the season, 13-8.
