Softball Sweeps Wilkes, DeStefano Records 100th Career Hit

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team swept Wilkes University, 6-2 and 8-0, on Wednesday night at Blankley Field. Alex DeStefano surpassed the 100 career-hit milestone, while going 3-for-5 with two runs, one RBI and four stolen bases in the double-header.
 
Kayla Pscolka put together a strong showing at the plate with three hits, five RBI and two doubles on the afternoon. The Knights also received tremendous pitching from Kylee Schwind and Juliana Presto. Schwind tossed a complete game with two runs and six strikeouts, while Presto fanned eight over five shutout innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilkes lit up the scoreboard first with one run in the third and fourth innings, respectively. The Colonels plated both their runners with RBI singles, 2-0.
 
- The Knights put up a crooked six runs in the fifth inning. Effie Jamanis opened the inning with a single and was moved over to scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Isabella O'Hare kept momentum with a single up the middle to put runners on the corners. DeStefano then slapped an RBI single to left field for her 100th career hit, 2-1.
 
- With two-outs in the sixth inning, the Knights kept the rally moving with a game-tying RBI single from Maddie Costigan. Arcadia then took the lead when DeStefano crossed home plate on a Costigan double steal. Megan Sooy then drove home Costigan with a single to left field, while Alexa Vardiman and Pscolka pieced together back-to-back doubles to plate two more runners, 6-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Presto retired the side in order, the Knights rallied for five runs after the first six runners reached base in the first inning. DeStefano started the rally with a single to left field, while Xanthe Jamanis was hit by a pitch to put two on. Alexis Burge then cleared the bases with a two-run double to right field, 2-0.
 
- Later in the first inning, Sooy brought home Burge with another double. Pscolka then plated two more with the team's third double of the inning, 5-0.
 
- After another clean second inning from Presto, Arcadia added two more insurance runs when Pscolka sent a two-out single to center field with the bases loaded, 7-0.
 
- The Knights added the game's final run in the third inning. Shannon Shea opened the frame with a lead-off double and scored on a throwing error following an Isabella O'Hare single to the pitcher, 8-0.
