GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team won its first postseason game in program history in Saturday's 20-6 victory over King's in the MAC Freedom Quarterfinals.
Brady Manion had a game-high eight points on three goals and five assists while
Clo Muscara had a team-high four goals in the win.
Brian Albertsen also added a hat trick as 11 different Knights found the back of the net on the day.
With the win, the Knights advance to the MAC Freedom Semifinals Wednesday night at Jean Lenox West Field against either fourth-seed DeSales or third-seed Misericordia.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-King's was first on the board in the first two minutes, but a three-goal Arcadia run followed as Muscara, Albertsen, and
Brian Rusnak all scored with all three assisted by Manion to give the Knights their first lead of the day early in the second quarter. The Monarchs answered to cut the deficit to one, but the Knights outscored King's 5-1 over the remainder of the opening half.
Jack Rogers and
Justin Chinici started the run before
Ryan Anderson and Manion capped the quarter with tallies to send the Knights into halftime with an 8-3 lead.
-The Knights only allowed three goals for the reminader of the game as
Timmy Fyock made ten saves to pick up his eighth win of the season in net. The Arcadia attack unit kept up its fast pace with eight goals in the third quarter, led by two each from Albertsen and Muscara.
Wesley Sporer added a man-up tally in the period while
Billy Burton found the back of the net with a no-look, over-the-shoulder shot ahead of a
Joe Pedisich tally, vaulting the Knights to a 16-4 lead after three.
-Muscara netted his fourth and final goal of the afternoon to begin the fourth quarter on an assist from
Patrick Ensmenger who won the faceoff and found Muscara on the left side of the cage after carrying the ball downfield. Alexa Herka capped the Knights' day offensively with his second goal of the season in the 20-6 final.
