Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team won a five-set thriller on Friday afternoon, as it defeated Franklin & Marshall, 3-2, in the opener of the Asics Invitational.
After dropping the first set, the Knights fought back to win the next two. Franklin & Marshall would take the fourth set, before Arcadia won the final set to win its third match of the season.
Junior Outside Hitter Michelle Frank recorded a match-high 13 kills to lead the Knights offensively. Sophomore Setter Estefania Martinez-Sola dished out 39 assists in the victory.
Defensively, Arcadia was led by Junior Libero Grace Kraft as she recorded 27 digs. Martinez-Sola completed her double-double with 14 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Franklin & Marshall took the first set, 25-15. The first set was a back-and-forth battle through the midpoint of the stanza. With the score tied at 13, Franklin & Marshall went on a 7-0 run to take a 20-13 lead. After the Knights stopped the run, the Diplomats won five of the last six points of the set to win it.

Arcadia won the second set, 25-21. The Knights began the set on the front foot as they took a 15-10 advantage. The Diplomats would find some momentum as they fought back to tie the score at 16. The Knights would outscore Franklin & Marshall, 9-5, for the rest of the second set to tie the match at a set apiece.

The Knights won their second consecutive set, taking the third, 25-22. With the score tied at nine, the Diplomats went on a 6-0 run to take a 15-9 lead. Arcadia called a timeout trailing 20-17. That timeout ended up shifting the momentum in the set as the Knights won eight of the final 10 points to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

The fourth set was won by the Diplomats, 25-21. Franklin & Marshall quickly took a 10-4 lead, leading to an Arcadia timeout. The set was evenly matched after the timeout and the closest the Knights would get was down two points, 22-20. The Diplomats won three of the final four points to take the set and tie the match at two sets each.

The fifth and final set was taken by the Knights, 15-13. After losing the first three points of the set, the Knights rattled eight of the next 10 points. With the fifth set tied at 13, Arcadia won the final two points to win the match.
