Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime to Farmingdale State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Arcadia University women's soccer program took a one-goal lead into the final minutes of the second half at Farmingdale State Saturday, but an 81st minute score sent the game to overtime where the Rams netted the game-winner to defeat the Knights, 2-1.

Kira Bochard netted her sixth goal of the season off of a Riley Ratcliffe free kick in the 67th minute while Julia Mendez made six saves - all coming in the second half - in 88 minutes of work in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights' attack went to work early as Bochard had three shots in the first six minutes. Amanda Thaler had an opportunity on net in the 23rd minute, but her shot was met with a save as the two sides went into halftime scoreless. Arcadia limited the Rams to just three shots in the first 45 minutes.

-The Knights broke through in the 67th minute to put an end to the scoreless tie as Ratcliffe's free kick from 25 yards out made its way into the box where Bochard met it perfectly just before the charging keeper could get to it and found the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.

-Farmingdale State rallied to net the equalizer moments later in the 81st minute as Alexxis McNeil broke free from the Arcadia back line and fired a shot from the left edge of the six-yard box, finding the back of the net just underneath the crossbar and ultimately sending the match to overtime.

-Nearly seven minutes into the first overtime period, McNeil had a lane down the right sideline and fired a shot on goal aimed at the far post that hit off the woodwork and ricocheted in, lifting Farmingdale State to the 2-1 victory.
