SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Arcadia University field hockey team suffered its first loss of the 2021 season Sunday at Swarthmore, falling to the host Garnet by a final of 2-0. The Garnet netted a goal each in the first and fourth quarters while limiting the Knights to six shots to come away with the non-conference win.
Gracie Fenner made five saves in net for the Knights on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Garnet opened the scoring just under four minutes into the game as Martina Kampel found the back of the cage. The Knights registered three shots on goal in the quarter, but each were met with saves. Swarthmore went on to take the one-goal lead into halftime.
-Fenner kept the Knights' deficit at one with a pair of saves in the third quarter, but Swarthmore rallied to add an insurance tally in the opening minutes of the fourth and held the Arcadia offense in check to come away with the 2-0 victory.
