Box Score HOBOKEN, NJ - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped it conference opener at Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-0, on Wednesday night.
Michelle Frank led the Knights with a game-high 14 kills, while
Estefanía Martínez-Solá collected a team-high 23 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights dropped the opening set, 25-22. Arcadia got off to a fast start with a 9-5 advantage, which prompted the Ducks to burn an early timeout. Following the timeout, Frank maintained pressure with two-straight kills to take a six point advantage. However, Stevens climbed back into the game with a 9-4 rally, which was capped-off by five consecutive points to give the Ducks the lead, 22-21. Stevens then closed out the set with three-straight points to claim the opening frame.
- Arcadia got off to another commanding start with a 5-0 run to open the second set. The Knights opening run featured two aces from
Mandy Singleton with kills from
Danielle Doyle and Martinez-Sola. However, Stevens would once again climb back into the game with a 13-3 run, which included eight-straight points, midway through the stanza. The Ducks would cruise through the second set to a 25-19 victory.
- Stevens closed out the match in three sets with a 25-18 victory. The Ducks applied pressure early with a 16-5 run to open the final set. The Knights would claw back into the game with two separate 5-0 runs, but could not overcome the early deficit.
