ARLINGTON, Va. - The Arcadia University men's volleyball team opened its season with a doubleheader against Penn State Behrend and Marymount. The Knights defeated Penn State Behrend in four sets, but fell to Marymound in three.  

ARCADIA 3, PENN STATE BEHREND 1 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

Set 1 – Penn State Behrend 25, Arcadia 19 

• The Lions took the advantage in the set after winning three consecutive points, giving them a 14-10 lead. They would never trail again in the set to take a one set advantage in the match. 

Set 2 – Arcadia 25, Penn State Behrend 19 

• The Knights took an early 11-6 lead. After a 3-0 run from the Lions, Arcadia answered back with a 3-0 run of its own, which gave them a 14-9 lead. The Lions won three consecutive points to cut the Knight lead to two, but Arcadia held on to tie the match at one. 

Set 3 – Arcadia 25, Penn State Behrend 19 

• The set was back and forth all the way to final points. Arcadia grabbed a hold of the set after winning four straight points, giving them a 23-18 lead. The Knights won their second consecutive set to take the lead in the match. 

Set 4 – Arcadia 28, Penn State Behrend 26 

• The final set was tied on seven different occasions before the Knights won two consecutive points to win the set and the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Set 1 – Marymount 25, Arcadia 13 

• Marymount took an early advantage after winning seven of eight points, giving the Saints an 8-3 lead. Marymount continued the momentum to take the set. 

Set 2 – Marymount 25, Arcadia 12 

• The Saints never trailed in the set and used multiple runs to take a two sets to none lead in the match.  

Set 3 – Marymount 25, Arcadia 15 

• The Knights held an early 5-3 lead, but the Saints used a 7-1 run in the middle of the set to seal the set and match win.
