Makowski Leads All Scorers With 22 Points in Women's Basketball's Win Over Lycoming

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team defeated Lycoming, 65-51 on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Gymnasium. The Knights picked up their third conference win of the season and second in a row. 

Senior Julia Makowski led all scorers with 22 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including a strong 4-of-6 from three-point range. Sidney Barrer set a new career high in rebounds with 13. She also added nine points and five steals in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Lycoming jumped out to an 11-5 advantage, but that would be the only stretch that the Warriors led in the contest. The Knights ended the quarter on a 14-6 run, leading 19-15 at the end of the opening quarter.  

  • The teams played a tightly contested second quarter where Lycoming cut the Arcadia lead to just three, but the Knights countered back, heading into halftime with a 30-25 advantage.  

  • The Knights opened up their lead in the third quarter, outscoring Lycoming, 22-11. Arcadia began the quarter on an 8-1 run and ended the frame on a 6-0 run.  

  • Lycoming went on a 10-3 run in the opening stages of the final quarter, but the Knights answered back, extending their lead and closing out the contest, winning 65-51.
