Women's Volleyball Drops Two at Messiah Tri-Match

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped two matches at the Messiah Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell to both Haverford and Messiah by a score of 3-1.  

Estefania Martinez-Sola had a double with 14 assists and 14 digs. Michelle Frank led the Knights attack with seven kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 

Set 1: Arcadia 25, Haverford 16: Arcadia took an early lead in the set through a 6-0 run, giving it a 9-4 lead. The Knights extended their lead to 15-7 through a 5-0 run. Haverford got within five in the late stages of the frame, but Arcadia took the final four points of the set to take the early lead in the match. 

Set 2: Haverford 25, Arcadia 23: A tightly contested opening to the set was blown open by the Knights due to a 7-1 run, giving them an 18-11 lead. Haverford responded with six straight points to the cut the Arcadia lead to 18-17. The Knights then won five of the next six points, taking a 23-18 lead, but Haverford won the final seven points to tie the match at one set apiece.  

Set 3: Haverford 25, Arcadia 10: Haverford got out to a 9-2 lead and used a 7-0 run in the middle part of the set to take hold of the frame, and go up 2-1 in the match.  

Set 4: Haverford 25, Arcadia 15: Haverford used a 5-0 run to take a 10-7 lead in the set. They extended that lead to a 9-1 run, giving them a 14-8 advantage. The Fords continued their strong play in the set to close out the match.

In the Knights' second match of the day against Messiah, Nicole Dallara tallied 10 kills in Arcadia's 3-1 loss. Kelsi Warner dished out a team-high 23 assists.  

Set 1: Messiah 25, Arcadia 10: Messiah opened the set on a 9-1 run and continued its strong play throughout the set to take an early lead in the match. 

Set 2: Arcadia 25, Messiah 22: With the set tied at 11, the Knights went on a 7-2 run, taking an 18-13 lead. Messiah cut Arcadia's lead one through a 4-0 run but the Knights used a strong finish to the frame to tie the match at one.  

Set 3: Messiah 25, Arcadia 12: Messiah won the first six points of the set. The Falcons used multiple runs in the set to take a 2-1 lead in the match.  

Set 4: Messiah 25, Arcadia 23: The teams were tied at 15 in the set when Messiah won four of the next five points, giving them a 19-16 lead. With the Falcons leading 24-19, Arcadia fought off four match points, but the Falcons took the final point of the set to win the match.
