CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Two late goals were not enough as the No. 2 seed Arcadia University field hockey team fell in the finals of the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Championship by a 3-2 score on Saturday afternoon.
Regan Sammons and
Caeley LeTersky were the two goal scorers for the Knights; The loss snaps Arcadia's 13-game win streak dating back September 13th.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-DeSales held the early momentum outshooting the Knights 5-1 and holding a 4-0 advantage in penalty corners as the game remained scoreless through the first 15 minutes.
-The Bulldogs got on the board 30 seconds into the second quarter with a goal scored off a penalty corner.
-DeSales doubled its advantage in the 20
th minute off another penalty corner.
-The Bulldogs converted another penalty corner in the 40
th minute to take a 3-0 lead.
-Sammons got Arcadia on the board in the 59th minute with an assist from
Emma Heffley.
-LeTersky scored eight seconds later to cut the deficit to 3-2 with an assist from
Sam Jacona.
-Arcadia got the ball in the offensive end with 11 seconds on the clock but was turned away as time expired.
