Hoboken, NJ - The second-seeded Arcadia University's women's volleyball team fell short at the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Championship match against No. 1 Stevens, on Saturday afternoon. They rallied back from a 22-16 deficit in the first set by earning seven straight points and eventually winning 25-23. However, the next three sets went to Stevens to give them the title.
The Knights finish the season with a 19-9 record, the program's most wins since 2018.
SET 1: Arcadia 25, Stevens 23: Stevens got out to a 13-8 lead in the opening set. The Ducks built their lead up to 22-16, but Arcadia answered with seven consecutive points to take a 23-22 lead. Stevens took the next point to tie the score at 23, but the Knights won the final two points of the frame to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
SET 2: Stevens 25, Arcadia 23: Arcadia got out to an early 9-5 lead in the set. The Knights extended their lead to as much as five, 17-12. Stevens then went on a 9-4 run to tie the frame at 21. Arcadia took the next two points to lead, 23-21, but Stevens won the last four points of the set to tie the match at one.
SET 3: Stevens 25, Arcadia 15: The Ducks jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but Arcadia won the next five points to cut its deficit to one, 9-8. Stevens used a 7-2 run to grow its lead to 18-12. The Ducks closed out the set to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
SET 4: Stevens 25, Arcadia 15: A back and forth beginning to the set was ended by a 6-0 Stevens run, giving the Ducks a 17-12 lead. Stevens continued its momentum to close out the set and win the match.
